What's on in Deltebre

Deltebre sits at the heart of the Ebro Delta on the Costa Daurada, a strung-out town along the river's north bank where Catalonia's great wetland meets the sea. This is a landscape of rice fields, lagoons and reedbeds, alive with flamingos and herons, and Deltebre is the natural base for exploring it by bike, on foot or by boat. It's a working delta community built on rice and mussels rather than tourism, with empty windswept beaches at the river mouth.

Food runs the calendar here: the Mussel Gastronomic Days celebrate the delta's shellfish, and the Mescla festival marks the town's turn as a Catalan gastronomic capital. Here's what's on while you're here.
