Poesia i + Festival (21st edition)
A long-running summer festival blending poetry, live music and the arts in the seaside village's most atmospheric spaces, including the patio of the Fundació Palau and the Can Muntanyà park. Spoken word is paired with concerts and performances, so even non-Catalan speakers can enjoy the open-air music and setting.
Poetry sits at the centre of this one, which started back in 2003 around the work of Josep Palau i Fabre, the poet whose foundation now anchors it. The readings are mostly in Catalan, so if that's not your language you won't catch every line. But the music, the performances and the settings carry plenty on their own.
Caldes d'Estrac is one of eight small towns along this stretch of coast that take part across the first dozen days of July. The evenings you'll want are in the patio of the Fundació Palau and out under the trees in Parc de Can Muntanyà, where spoken word slides into live concerts as the heat drops. Some sessions are free, others ticketed. It's an easy, unhurried night out by the sea rather than a big production.
