Sant Pere Festa Major (Patron Saint Festival)
El Masnou's five-day patron-saint festival, themed 'Terra, mar i foc' (Earth, sea and fire). Expect giants parades (Pere el Drapaire and Eulalia Tallacolls), open-air concerts, sardanes, a funfair, fire-runs with devils, havaneres and a crafts fair, much of it free and outdoors by the sea.
For five days each late June, El Masnou hands its streets and seafront over to Sant Pere. Three street parades, themed earth, sea and fire, wind their way down towards the beach, and after dark the correfoc takes over: devils with sparklers and pyrotechnics weaving through the crowd, with a tamer fire-run laid on earlier for children. Towering gegants like Pere el Drapaire come out to dance, joined by visiting groups from across Catalonia.
The waterside side of things is where it really earns its keep. There are havaneres sung over glasses of rom cremat, sardanes danced to live cobla music, and a sung fish auction down by the beach. Browse the crafts stalls in the municipal gardens, ride the funfair, or follow the Escuracassoles food trail through dozens of local restaurants. Most of it is free and outdoors.
