Festa Major (Main Town Festival)
Vilassar de Mar's biggest annual festival, with six days of fire processions, concerts, parades, a giant paella, human-tower displays and a Saint John's Eve celebration. The town fills with open-air events from morning until late night.
For six days each June, Vilassar de Mar hands its streets over to the festa major and barely sleeps. It opens with the cercavila and pregó, a noisy procession through the plaza, and runs through to fire-runs after dark, where sparks shower over anyone brave enough to stand close. Saint John's Eve brings the seafront alive, with fireworks you reach through the beach underpasses. The castellers go up on the 24th, swaying human towers built several bodies high while the bands play below.
Most of it costs nothing. There's a fairground with a quieter, calmer hour from five to six for anyone who needs it, plus free concerts, children's shows and a giant paella shared out among the crowds. Come hungry and stay late.
