FIESCREM - Breakfast & Cremaet Fair
A gastronomic fair celebrating the Valencian 'esmorzaret' (hearty mid-morning breakfast) and the cremaet (flamed coffee with rum), with food stalls, music and contests to crown the best cremaet. The 2026 edition (4th) ran 30 April-3 May; the big popular breakfast was on 1 May from 09:30. This one-off is past for 2026 but returns annually around the May Day weekend.
Carrer Ribera Alta closes off and turns into a run of food stalls built around two Valencian rituals: the esmorzaret, that proper mid-morning blowout of stuffed bread rolls, and the cremaet, a coffee set alight with rum, sugar and lemon peel until it goes the colour of treacle. The pull is the contest to crown the world's best cremaet, judged by serious local chefs, with an amateur round added so visitors can have a go too. Around it there's showcooking, live music that swings from orchestras to rumba, a thumping batucada and the odd mascletà to rattle your fillings.
It runs across the May Day long weekend, with the big communal breakfast on the Friday morning. The 2026 edition has been and gone, but it comes back each spring, and entry costs nothing.
