Fiestas de la Virgen de la Antigua 2026 — Almuñécar
Almuñécar's patron-saint week peaks with a spectacular pyromusical fireworks show over the bay.
Almuñécar honours its patron, the Virgen de la Antigua, in the week around 15 August — the height of the Spanish summer. The fiesta blends religious processions and a fairground with concerts and street parties, but its signature moment is the piromusical: a fireworks display choreographed to music and launched over the bay, one of the most-loved spectacles on the Costa Tropical.
What to expect. A full week of celebration culminating around Assumption Day, with the town at its liveliest. The seafront pyromusical draws big crowds, so stake out a spot along the Paseo del Altillo or one of the beaches early.
Practical bit. This is peak season on a coast that fills up fast, and Almuñécar's central streets close for the fiesta. Staying nearby and using a hire car for the approach — and for the surrounding tropical-coast beaches and the run up to Granada — saves a lot of parking frustration.
