Marea Rosa Charity Fun Run
A colourful charity fun run held alongside the Mar de Idolos festival, with proceeds going to cancer and health charities (AECC, UAPO and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association). A relaxed, community-spirited evening run open to all.
The "pink tide" sets off at 8pm from the Polideportivo Paulino Salgado, once the worst of the July heat has eased off. It is more a community jog than a serious race, with plenty of pink in the crowd and families turning out together. Your five euros goes to three Spanish health charities: the cancer association AECC, the UAPO foundation and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
The whole thing runs alongside Torrenueva Costa's Mar de Idolos festival, so there is a proper evening out attached to it. Pay eighteen euros instead and you get the run plus entry to La Flamenca, the party that follows. Sign-ups go through Global Tempo or the local information points. A warm, easy-going way to spend a summer evening and do a bit of good while you are at it.
