What's on in Torrenueva Costa

Torrenueva Costa is a small, fairly modern resort town on Granada's Costa Tropical, between Motril and Castell de Ferro, with a long dark-sand beach backed by a promenade. It only became a town in its own right a few years ago, and it has the relaxed, family feel of a place that fills up with Spanish holidaymakers in summer and goes quiet the rest of the year. Behind it rise the tropical-fruit terraces of mango and custard apple that give this coast its name.

Summer brings the Mar de Idolos music festival and the Orquesta Panorama on its Time Tour, while the Marea Rosa charity fun run draws a crowd along the seafront. The St John's Eve beach night marks midsummer with bonfires on the sand. Here's what's on while you're here.
