La Oliva sits in the quieter north of Fuerteventura, and twice a week its old town fills up with growers and makers selling what they've actually farmed and made. The stalls run to kilometre-zero produce: fruit and veg pulled from the island's volcanic soil, aloe vera in every form going, and the local Majorero specialities the place is known for. It's a small, low-key affair rather than a big tourist market, which is rather the point.
Come on a Tuesday or Thursday morning and you can chat to the people behind the tables, taste before you buy, and pick up things you won't find in the supermarket. Entry is free, prices are fair, and it's an easy hour well spent if you're staying nearby or passing through.
