Almond Blossom Festival (Fiesta del Almendro en Flor) 2026
Puntagorda's flagship annual celebration of the almond trees in white-and-pink blossom, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest of the Canary Islands. Ten days of wine tastings, an artisan market, almond-sweet workshops, folk performances, the 'Almendro en Rock' concert and open-air dances with orchestras. The 2026 edition (23 Jan-1 Feb) has finished; the next edition is expected late January / early February 2027.
Up in Puntagorda, on La Palma's quiet western flank, the almond trees turn the hillsides white and pink in late winter, and the village throws a ten-day party to mark it. It's an unhurried, properly local affair: wine tastings of the island's small-grower bottles, an artisan market, and workshops where you can have a go at making the almond sweets the area is known for. Folk groups perform, and the evenings stretch out with open-air dances and live orchestras.
The oddity in the line-up is "Almendro en Rock", a concert that gives the whole thing a louder edge after all the folk and pastry. Most of it costs nothing to wander into, though a few of the workshops want you to sign up beforehand. The blossom doesn't keep to a calendar, so timing shifts slightly each year, usually landing across the last weekend of January and the first of February.
