What's on in Puntagorda

Puntagorda is a scattered rural village on the green north-west of La Palma, the steepest and least touristy of the Canaries. It sits high on the hillside among almond trees, pines and terraced smallholdings, with long views down to the Atlantic. There's no resort here at all — just a quiet farming community, an organic market and some of the island's best stargazing under famously dark skies.

Its best-known event is the Almond Blossom Festival in late winter, when the hills turn white and the village celebrates with music, food and folk traditions. Through the year there's the Fiesta de San Roque, the patron festivals of San Mauro Abad, and the Vino a Jarro wine-and-running race. Here's what's on while you're here.
