This is a running race in name only. The route winds out through the terraced vineyards above Puntagorda, on the green north-western corner of La Palma, and at each control point you stop for a glass of the local wine and a few tapas before carrying on. "Vino a jarro" roughly means wine by the jugful, which tells you how seriously the competitive side is taken.
It runs each January as part of Puntagorda's Almond Blossom Festival, when the hillsides come into pink-and-white flower and the village fills up for the celebrations. The terrain is steep and the bodegas are small family affairs, so go for the company and the scenery rather than a fast finish. Sign-up is through the festival's timing site, and places tend to be limited. Expect the next edition in late January 2027.
