San Juan Bautista Patron Saint Festivities
Haría's main patron-saint fiesta in honour of St John the Baptist, with a village song festival, a Canarian wrestling tournament (lucha canaria) at the Luis Montero Barreto arena, a food fair and assorted cultural events around the main square. The 2026 main weekend ran 12-14 June; the next edition is expected in June 2027.
Haría sits up in the green north of Lanzarote, away from the resorts, and once a year it throws itself into its patron-saint weekend for St John the Baptist. It usually lands around mid-June. The action centres on the Plaza de Haría and the streets nearby: a village song contest under the evening sky, a long-running artisan market marking a quarter-century, and a food fair that, refreshingly, makes room for vegan and gluten-free cooking alongside the usual Canarian fare.
The real draw for many is the lucha canaria at the Luis Montero Barreto arena, where local clubs grapple in a circle of sand in a wrestling style you won't see anywhere else. Most of it is free, the crowd is mainly islanders, and you'll get a proper sense of how a small Canarian town actually celebrates.
