Regla Festival: Village Barbecue & Open-Air Concert (Alegranza)
A communal open-air barbecue in the village square of La Vegueta, followed at 9:30pm by a live concert from the band Alegranza. Easygoing local fiesta food and music; just turn up and join in.
La Vegueta is a small farming hamlet up in the lava country of Tinajo, and on the night of the Regla fiesta the whole place turns out to the square. From around 8pm the asadero gets going: grills smoking, long tables set out under the open sky, and everyone tucking into meat cooked on the spot. It is village food at village prices, served the way these things always are here, with neighbours shuffling up to make room for whoever turns up.
At 9:30pm the local band Alegranza takes over and the eating slides into music. Don't expect anything polished or aimed at visitors. This is Lanzarotans enjoying their own saint's day, and you're simply welcome to pull up a chair. Bring cash, an empty stomach, and patience for late Canarian timing.
