What's on in Tinajo

Tinajo is a small farming municipality on Lanzarote's western side, on the edge of the volcanic badlands that run into the Timanfaya national park. This is wine and crop country, where vines and figs grow in black-gravel hollows scooped out by hand and ringed with low stone walls to catch the moisture. It's rural and unhurried, with the coast at La Santa drawing surfers and the famous sports-training lagoon nearby.

The village's heart is the Regla festival, honouring its patron with an open-air verbena dance and concert, a wine tasting with a dessert competition, and a barbecue and concert out at Alegranza. For the more active, the Trail La Vegueta takes runners across the lava fields. Here's what's on while you're here.
