Regla Festival: Wine Tasting & Dessert Competition
An evening tasting of Lanzarote white and red wines and local liqueurs, paired with a homemade dessert competition. A relaxed, hands-on way to sample the island's volcanic-soil wines among locals.
Tinajo sits on Lanzarote's quieter western side, where vines grow in black volcanic gravel and the wines pick up a mineral edge you won't find elsewhere. This evening is part of the village's Regla festival, and it's about as local as it gets. From 7pm in La Vegueta, you can work your way through island reds, whites and a few homemade liqueurs, glass in hand, while the neighbours catch up around you.
The real fun is the dessert competition: villagers bring along their best homemade sweets to be judged, so there's plenty going spare to taste. Earlier in the afternoon there's even a straw-hat-making workshop carrying on from the day's events. It's unpolished, friendly and genuinely Canarian, the sort of evening you'd never stumble on by accident.
