Traditional Folk Dances in the Neighbourhoods
An open-air evening of traditional Menorcan folk dancing and music performed by the Sant Miquel folklore group in a neighbourhood square. Just turn up and watch the island's living folk culture, with several editions across the summer.
On a handful of warm evenings through the summer, the Sant Miquel folklore group sets up in a neighbourhood square in Ciutadella and dances the way Menorcans have for generations. This isn't a polished tourist show. It's the local dance club doing its thing on home turf, the kind of thing that happens whether visitors turn up or not, which is rather the point. Expect couples turning through the old island dances to live music, neighbours pulling up chairs, and a relaxed, family feel as the light fades.
It's free and you simply show up. The square sits between the Moix Negre cinema and the Multifunctional Hall, a short walk from the centre. Some editions are danced in period costume, which is worth catching if your dates line up. A genuinely lovely, low-key way to spend an early evening.
