Children's Holi Festival
A colourful family Holi party kicking off Es Castell's summer concert weekend, with music and clouds of coloured powder for kids and parents. Part of the run-up to the town's Sant Jaume festivities.
Things get going at around seven in the evening on the car-park esplanade at Calesfonts, the pretty harbour-side spot in Es Castell. Pay your three euros, grab the two bags of coloured powder that come with it, and wait for the music to start. Then it's chaos in the best possible way: handfuls of pink, blue and yellow flung in every direction until everyone, parents included, looks like a walking paint chart. Bring a change of clothes and don't wear anything you're precious about.
It's aimed squarely at families, and it doubles as the opening act for the town's summer concert weekend, the warm-up to the bigger Sant Jaume celebrations later in July. A cheap, daft, joyful way to spend a holiday evening with the kids.
