What's on in Es Castell

Es Castell sits at the very eastern edge of Menorca, the first town in Spain to catch the morning sun. Built by the British in the 18th century as a garrison town beside Maó's great natural harbour, it still has a Georgian, military feel to its grid of streets and parade-ground square. Down at the waterline, the old fishing inlet of Cales Fonts is lined with restaurants tucked into former boat caves.

Evenings are when it comes alive. The Cales Fonts summer market runs daily by the water, the Es Castell Night Market takes over after dark, and there's plenty for families, from a children's Holi festival to the island's first Techno Flamenco event. Here's what's on while you're here.
