Porís de Abona Book Fair "Pollinating Reading" (3rd edition)
A seaside book fair in the fishing village of El Poris de Abona, with bookstall and publisher stands, author signings, craft stalls, children's and adult workshops, and storytelling. Highlights include live music by Jairo y los Chicos del Coro, the open-air "Cuentos a la Mar" storytelling-and-music session on the beach (Sat ~21:15), a closing show "Somos" on the main square (Sun), and the photo exhibition "Namibia: entre arena y vida" at the Consejo Regulador de Abona.
El Poris de Abona is a small fishing village on Tenerife's quiet south-east coast, and each June it hands its seafront and main square over to books. Publisher and bookshop stands set up alongside craft stalls, authors turn up to sign copies, and there are workshops for both children and grown-ups dotted through the weekend. It's free, and the pace is gentle.
Two moments are worth planning around. On the Saturday, "Cuentos a la Mar" puts storytelling and live music straight onto the beach at about 9.15pm, which is a lovely way to end the day. Jairo y los Chicos del Coro play live over the fair, the photography exhibition "Namibia: entre arena y vida" runs at the Consejo Regulador de Abona, and the closing show, "Somos", takes the main square on the Sunday.
