Fiestas de San Pedro Apostol (Patron Saint Festival)
Güímar's patron saint festivities honouring St Peter the Apostle, with a packed program of open-air dance nights (verbenas), live music, religious processions, folklore, sport and family activities. The main fiesta days fall around 27-29 June; in 2026 the celebrations are hosted in the San Pedro de Arriba neighbourhood. Free to attend and easy to enjoy without Spanish.
Late June is when Güímar throws itself a proper town party for its patron saint, and you don't need a word of Spanish to fall in with it. The heart of it is the verbenas: open-air dance nights where a band sets up, the volume climbs, and grandparents and toddlers are still going long after you'd expect. Around those sit the things a Canarian fiesta does well, folklore groups in traditional dress, a procession carrying St Peter through the streets, sport, and family bits and bobs.
This year it centres on the San Pedro de Arriba neighbourhood, up the hill from town, so you get a more local, lived-in feel than a tourist set-piece. It's free and friendly, with the main days around 27 to 29 June. Turn up of an evening, grab something from a stall, and let the music tell you where to stand.
