What's on in Ingenio

Ingenio sits in the south-east of Gran Canaria, just inland from the airport and the coast, climbing from market gardens up towards the hills and the village of La Pasadilla. It's long been a town of craftspeople, and it's especially known for calado — the fine Canarian openwork lace stitched by local women for generations.

That heritage gets its showcase in the Calando Cultura lace exhibition. Midsummer brings the Hogueras de San Juan, bonfires lit across the town on St John's Night, while up in the hills the Fiestas of San Antonio in La Pasadilla keep the rural traditions going. Here's what's on while you're here.
