What's on in Isla Cristina

Isla Cristina is a working fishing port near the Portuguese border on Huelva's Costa de la Luz, and one of the busiest fishing fleets in Andalusia lands here. That salt-and-nets character runs right through the town, alongside wide Atlantic beaches backed by dunes and marshland. It's far less developed than the Mediterranean costas — a proper Andalusian seafood town first, a beach resort second.

The sea shapes the calendar. The Fiestas del Carmen carry the fishermen's patron out on a maritime procession, the Feria del Marisco celebrates the catch with a seafood and gastronomy fair, and the Mercado Marinero brings a seafaring street market to town. Midsummer adds the San Juan beach bonfires. Here's what's on while you're here.
