What's on in Muro

Muro is a quiet inland town in the north of Mallorca, set among the farmland near the great Albufera wetland and bird reserve. The old town has a fine stone church and a relaxed, agricultural feel, while its long beach at Platja de Muro stretches down the Bay of Alcúdia — among the best on the island, but a few miles from the town itself. It's a working Mallorcan place rather than a resort centre.

Its big celebration is the Sant Joan fiestas in June, when the town empties into the streets — there's the traditional 40 Laps Eve, a foam party, and a workshop on the local Sant Joan herb liqueur. The summer also brings an open-air staging of The Lion King. Here's what's on while you're here.
