What's on in Tegueste

Tegueste is a small inland town in the green north-east of Tenerife, set among vineyards and market gardens in a sheltered valley near La Laguna. There's no coast and no resort here — it's a farming community, proud of its produce and its traditions, and a world away from the southern sun-strip.

That farming life is on show at the weekly Mercado del Agricultor, where local growers sell their wine, fruit and vegetables, and it peaks at the Romería de San Marcos, the town's much-loved pilgrimage with decorated ox-carts, costumes and food shared in the street.
