What's on in Tortosa
Tortosa is an inland city on the river Ebre, the main town of the Terres de l'Ebre, set where the river cuts through hills towards its delta. It's crowned by the Suda, a Moorish castle now run as a parador, and below it a cathedral, a tangle of old lanes and the slow brown river that still shapes daily life. Off the main tourist trail, it rewards visitors who like history, good food and a town that goes about its own business.
The river is at the centre of things: La Llum de l'Ebre projects video mapping onto the cathedral, and there's a popular kayak descent of the Ebre. The long-running Tortosa Jazz Festival brings music to the squares, alongside an art and craft fair. Here's what's on while you're here.
