What's on in Vilanova i la Geltrú

Vilanova i la Geltrú is a proper working town on the coast south of Barcelona, with one of Catalonia's busiest fishing ports still landing its catch each morning. Alongside the harbour it has good beaches, a rambla for the evening stroll and a clutch of museums built on nineteenth-century "Americano" money brought back from Cuba. It's livelier and less polished than its neighbour Sitges, and the better for it if you want somewhere that isn't only about tourists.

Sant Pere, the maritime fiesta, is the town's own celebration, tied to the sea and the fishing fleet. The Llum de Mar seaside market runs on summer evenings, the Temps de Vi wine fair pours local bottles, and the Vida Festival brings indie music to the Masia d'en Cabanyes. Here's what's on while you're here.
