Chopin Festival 2026 — Valldemossa
Piano recitals in the very monastery where Chopin spent a famous winter, on summer Sundays in the Tramuntana.
Frédéric Chopin and George Sand spent the winter of 1838–39 in the Carthusian monastery at Valldemossa, and the village has honoured the connection ever since with a summer festival of piano music. On Sundays through July and August, recitals are held in the cloisters of the Real Cartuja itself — one of the most evocative places in Spain to hear Chopin's own works played.
What to expect. Intimate classical recitals in a historic mountain setting rather than a large festival. Programmes and exact dates are published each season, so treat the summer window here as a guide and check before booking.
Practical bit. Valldemossa is a jewel of the Serra de Tramuntana, reached by a winding road up from Palma. Buses are limited and don't suit an evening concert, so a hire car is the easy way to get there — and to carry on to Deià, Sóller and the dramatic west-coast drive while you're in the mountains.
