What a Scene! The 80s Arrived - Theatrical History Walk
An open-air theatrical walking route through the village that brings 1980s Spain to life with neon, period music and live performances. Visitors are invited to dress the part with shoulder pads and leg warmers and stroll the historic centre.
For one day in August, the old streets of Villa de Mazo wind the clock back to the 1980s. Troysteatro and the Sociedad La Unión turn the lanes around Plaza Pedro Pérez Díaz into a walking route stitched together with live performances and historical recreations, all built around la movida, the noisy, neon cultural rush that swept Spain after Franco. You follow the trail on foot, picking up scenes and period music as you go.
Slots run morning and afternoon, so there's no rush to be first through the door. Locals get into the spirit, and you're warmly encouraged to do the same: dig out the shoulder pads, the leg warmers, anything suitably loud. It's a small-village affair rather than a big production, which is rather the point.
