What's on in Sóller

Sóller lies in a bowl of orange and lemon groves in Mallorca's north-west, ringed by the Tramuntana mountains and linked to the coast at Port de Sóller by a vintage wooden tram. Most people arrive on the rattling 1912 train from Palma, which climbs through tunnels and terraces before dropping into the valley. The town square, with its grand church and pavement cafés, is the heart of it, and the local citrus flavours everything from the markets to the ice cream.

The fruit gets its own party at the Orange Fair and Orange Days, while the town's biggest event is Sa Fira and Es Firó, a Moors and Christians festival re-enacting a 1561 pirate raid. There's a Saturday market for local produce, and walkers tackle the Camí de Ferro trail run over to Palma. Here's what's on while you're here.
