544th Fiestas Mayores de Santiago de Gáldar
Gáldar's biggest annual fiesta in honour of patron saint Santiago, with the 2026 edition themed around the upcoming Jacobean Holy Year. Expect processions, a float parade (cabalgata de carrozas), concerts, fireworks and street celebrations centred on the church of Santiago.
Each July, Gáldar marks the feast of Santiago, its patron saint, and the streets around the old Templo de Santiago fill up for the town's biggest fiesta of the year. This 544th edition leans into the Jacobean Holy Year coming in 2027, with a poster of pilgrims on the Santiago de Gran Canaria route setting the tone. Most of the celebrations are free and happen out on the streets, so you can simply wander in.
A couple of concerts are worth booking ahead for. Camela, the long-running Spanish pop duo, play the La Quinta cultural complex on Sunday 26 July at 9pm, with tickets at 15 euros for residents and 20 for everyone else. There's also a first-ever Gáldar Urban Fest featuring Danny Romero, Vius and De la Rose, priced at 18.75 and 25 euros. Evenings are when the town really comes alive.
