La Patrona — Moros i Cristians 2026, Pollença
Pollença re-enacts a 1550 pirate raid in a dawn-to-dusk mock battle through its streets — Mallorca's fiercest fiesta.
Pollença's La Patrona festivities commemorate a real event — a 1550 raid by the corsair Dragut — with one of the most spirited Moros i Cristians re-enactments in the Balearics. It begins before dawn with the Alborada, then builds to a full-blown mock battle that surges through the streets between "Moors" and "Christians", ending with the cry of Mare de Déu as the townsfolk prevail.
What to expect. Loud, physical and gripping — far more battle than pageant — with the whole town taking part. The clashes spill across the main squares and narrow lanes; get there early for the Alborada and a good vantage point. Dates follow the traditional pattern around La Patrona, so confirm locally.
Practical bit. Pollença sits inland from its port in Mallorca's north, well away from Palma. With a hire car you can base yourself anywhere on the northern coast and still reach the early-morning start — and explore Cap de Formentor and the Tramuntana while you're up there.
