Guided Tour: Vandellòs Olive Oil Mill
A guided tour of Vandellòs's traditional olive oil mill, walking you through the whole process from harvest to bottle with a close look at the old machinery, finishing with a tasting of local olive oil. Offered in Spanish, Catalan and French through the summer, so easy for non-Catalan speakers.
Vandellòs sits a little inland from the coast, and its old mill is the sort of place you'd never find on your own. A guide walks you through how oil was made here, from the olives coming in off the trees to the bottle at the end, with the original machinery still in place to show how the whole thing actually worked. It's short, hands-off and easy to follow even if your Catalan is nonexistent.
The reward at the end is a tasting of oil made locally, which is the bit most people remember. Sessions run Tuesday to Saturday through the summer, with the morning slot in French and the late-morning ones in Spanish or Catalan. It costs a couple of euros, less for children, and the building is step-free throughout. A quiet, genuinely local hour, and a good excuse to head off the beach for a morning.
