Spanish Beach Tennis Championship by Autonomous Communities 2026
Spain's national beach tennis championship brings the country's top teams to Poniente beach for a weekend of matches on the sand. Free to watch and easy to drop in on while enjoying the beach.
Beach tennis is the cheerful, faster cousin of the regular game: short rackets, a low net strung across the sand, and players diving about barefoot to keep the ball off the ground. This is the national team championship, with squads representing Spain's regions rather than individual entrants, so expect plenty of shouting, matching kit and a fair bit of partisan support from the sidelines.
Courts are set up in the sports area on Poniente beach, along Avenida Armada Española, with some play also taking place at the Lope de Vega school. It runs across the Saturday and Sunday, and you can simply wander over from your towel and watch for as long as you fancy. Nothing to pay, no ticket needed. Bring water and a hat; the sand gets fierce by midday, and the better matches are worth lingering for.
