Exhibition: A Sky Full of Fish
A temporary exhibition titled 'A Sky Full of Fish' at the Ebro Sea Museum, on display until 28 June. A quiet, visual indoor option that ties into the town's maritime identity, easy to enjoy without Spanish.
Walk into the Museu de la Mar de l'Ebre and look up. A whole shoal of wooden fish hangs overhead, as if the bay outside had drifted in through the ceiling. They are the work of artist Damià Montes, who builds them from salvaged timber that has already had a life somewhere else, then paints them in bold colour. The weathered grain against the bright finish is the whole point, and the effect is oddly calming rather than gimmicky.
It is a small show, and a sensible choice on a hot afternoon or a grey one. There's nothing to read or decipher, so the language barrier never comes up, and it sits neatly with La Ràpita's long ties to the sea. Easy to fold into half an hour between a wander round the harbour and lunch.
