La Capital del Foc - Children's Book Launch
Launch of a Catalan children's book celebrating El Vendrell's famous fire traditions and its local fire-festival groups, with storytelling for younger readers. Best suited to Catalan-speaking families and residents.
El Vendrell takes its fire festivals seriously, and this little book sets out to explain them to the next generation. Written by Mar Vives Guasch with illustrations by Helena Ribas Domènech, it follows the town's thirteen groups of diables and bèsties through the year, from the bonfires of Saint John's Eve to the Santa Anna fire procession, with short fact-boxes teasing apart what a procession is, what a fire run is, and why the bell tower gets lit up.
The launch at Sala Portal del Pardo is a free, friendly affair built around storytelling for younger readers. It's all in Catalan, so it really suits local families and anyone settled here with children who already follow the festes. If your Catalan is shaky it may go over your head, but it's a charming window into a tradition you'll see blazing through the streets all summer.
