Guided Modernism & Noucentisme Heritage Walk
A free guided walk through Salou's Modernist and Noucentista architectural heritage, a new route launched by the town's tourism board. The live guided sessions alternate Catalan and Spanish, but you can also do the route independently any time via a free QR-code audioguide available in four languages.
Most people come to Salou for the sand, so it's easy to walk straight past the seaside villas the wealthy built here a century ago. This route slows you down to look properly. You'll pass Chalet Bonet from 1921 and Villa Enriqueta two years younger, the bourgeois holiday homes of Salou's belle époque, plus Chalet Torremar, now the tourism office. Look out for the broken-tile trencadís work on the old water deposit at the Jardín de las Fuentes, and the former Hotel Niza and Sol i Mar flats, said to be Catalonia's first holiday apartments.
The guided sessions run in Catalan or Spanish, so if your grasp of either is shaky, the free QR audioguide in four languages lets you wander the route at your own pace.
