Noche de San Juan 2026 — Costa de Almería
The shortest night of the year lights up the Almería coast with beach bonfires, midnight swims and DJ sets.
San Juan is the great Spanish midsummer night, and the beaches of Almería throw themselves into it with bonfires, fireworks and parties that run until dawn. From Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce in the west to Mojácar, Garrucha and Carboneras in the east, the whole coast comes out for the hogueras — lighting fires on the sand, leaping the flames and taking the traditional midnight dip that's said to wash away bad luck.
What to expect. Each town does it slightly differently — some lay on DJ sets and beach bars, others keep it to bonfires and a fireworks finale — but the spirit is the same coast-wide. Arrive early evening to claim a spot on the sand before the crowds build.
Practical bit. Almería's beaches are spread out and the celebrations are everywhere at once, so this is a coast you'll want to be mobile on. A hire car lets you pick your beach — the long sands at Roquetas or the prettier coves up towards Mojácar — and get back comfortably after a very late night.
