Cinema Fridays: 'Y tu mamá también' (2001)
A free Friday-night screening of the acclaimed 2001 Mexican road-trip film 'Y tu mamá también' at the Can Jeroni cultural centre. Shown in Spanish, so best suited to Spanish-speaking residents and film lovers.
Sant Josep runs a free film night most Fridays at Can Jeroni, and this week it's Alfonso Cuarón's 2001 road-trip drama about two teenage boys and an older woman driving across Mexico towards a beach that may or may not exist. It's a genuinely good film, funny and sad in equal measure, and one of the early roles for Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna.
Doors open and the screening starts around 8pm, with seats going free until the room fills. Worth knowing before you turn up: it's shown in Spanish with no English subtitles, so unless your Spanish is solid you'll be following the pictures more than the dialogue. If you do speak the language, it's a relaxed, low-key way to spend a Friday evening with locals rather than other holidaymakers.
