Ibizan Herb Liqueur Workshop
A hands-on artisanal workshop at the historic Ca n'Andreu des Trull farmhouse where you learn to make traditional Ibizan 'hierbas' herb liqueur using local aromatic plants. Two morning sessions; free but places are limited and must be booked by email in advance (sign-ups open 12 June), and the class is run in Spanish.
Hierbas is the herbal liqueur every Ibizan grandmother seems to make a little differently, and here you get to try your hand at it yourself. The setting is Ca n'Andreu des Trull, an old farmhouse out near Sant Carles, and the class is led by Cristina Ferrer, who knows the local plants and the traditional way of steeping them. Over a couple of hours you'll learn how the aromatic herbs are gathered and combined to give the drink its sweet, anise-tinged character.
Two morning sessions run on Saturday 20 June, each two hours long. It's free, but places are tight, so you'll need to book by email beforehand. One thing worth flagging: the workshop is run in Spanish, so a bit of the language helps. Come away with a real feel for how the island's signature tipple is made.
