Villa de Garafía Farmers' & Craft Market (monthly)
On the first Saturday of each month, local producers and craftspeople gather at the San Antonio del Monte agrarian centre with honey demonstrations, plant and floral displays, children's workshops, a Bola Canaria (traditional Canarian bowls) exhibition and live folk music from the Parranda del Gofio. A relaxed taste of village life in northern La Palma.
Up in the green, breezy north of La Palma, the agrarian centre at San Antonio del Monte fills up with stalls on the first Saturday of the month. Local producers bring honey, plants and whatever the season has yielded, and there's a "honey tunnel" if you fancy learning how it all happens. Around midday the Parranda del Gofio strike up, folk songs and guitars carried across the grounds, while teams from around the island roll out a bola canaria exhibition on the green.
It's a proper village affair rather than a tourist set-piece, which is the point. The kids' craft workshop, the floral displays, the raffle for a basket of local goods at the close, it all runs at an unhurried Canarian pace. Entry is free, and it's a gentle, friendly way to spend a morning if you've made it this far north.
