Caparruts Music Festival

Capdepera puts on its own little music night in the Plaça del Sitjar, the small square tucked below the old castle in this corner of northeast Mallorca. It costs nothing to turn up, and that sets the tone: locals drift in with their kids, find a spot near the stage and settle in for the evening.

The line-up leans Mallorcan and Catalan rather than chart-topping, with Maria Jaume and Nel·lo C among the names, plus Nastallat and DJ PD Rau Poca to keep things going later on. Songs are mostly in Catalan, so you won't catch every word, but that hardly matters once the square fills up. Grab a drink, stand among the crowd and take a town festival the way the locals do.
