The Workshop of Dreams (Musical Theatre)

For one evening, the Teatre de Capdepera hands its stage to the youngsters of the local EMMC music and arts school, and they put on a full musical theatre show. Expect songs, choreography and a fair bit of nervous energy from performers who have spent the year rehearsing for exactly this. The whole thing runs in Catalan, so you may not catch every line, but the singing and the staging carry the story along well enough.

It is free to get in, which makes it an easy way to spend a summer night doing something local rather than touristy. Turn up early if you want a decent seat. You will be surrounded by proud parents and neighbours, and the warmth in the room is half the point. A small, genuine slice of village life.
