The Festival for Everyone! - Classical Music Talks
A summer series of approachable talks that make classical music accessible, led by Pere Estelrich at the Rotger Villalonga foundation. Sessions are spoken in Catalan, so best suited to Catalan/Spanish speakers, with donations going to flood-relief causes.
The idea here is simple and rather lovely: sit in a small hall in Pollença and have someone walk you through a great piece of music so you actually understand what you're hearing. Pere Estelrich leads these chats in a relaxed, talkative way, more a knowledgeable friend than a lecturer. The opening session digs into the puzzles buried in Elgar's Enigma Variations, that famous orchestral riddle nobody has fully cracked.
Worth being honest about one thing: the talks are in Catalan, so you'll get the most from them if you follow the language. The setting is the intimate Fundació Rotger Villalonga on Carrer de Philip Newman, sessions run on a few evenings through June, and entry is by donation, with the money going to flood-relief causes. Book a seat ahead online if you fancy a spot.
