Swing by Camerata Antigua
An intimate, low-cost evening of swing music performed by the Camerata Antigua ensemble at the town's music school. At just EUR 3 it's an easy add-on for an evening out, with the music doing the talking.
Camerata Antigua are an unusual little four-piece: tenor sax, French horn, piano and drums, which is not the line-up you'd normally pencil in for a night of swing. That French horn is the curveball, lending the standards a warmer, rounder edge than the brassy sound you might expect. The setting helps too. This is the town's music school on Plaza del Mercat rather than a big hall, so you're close to the players and there's nowhere for a duff note to hide.
Doors are for an 8pm start, and at three euros a head it costs less than a round of drinks. A sensible way to fill an early evening in Guardamar before dinner, and worth getting there in good time, since small rooms like this tend to fill up once word gets round locally.
