Playa Lisa & Tamarit Neighbourhood Fiestas
A four-day open-air neighbourhood fiesta with live rock bands, flamenco, a Saturday water-and-fruit festival, a Sunday Virgin del Rocio pilgrimage, fairground rides, food and drink stalls, magicians and kids' shows. Easy to wander into and enjoy without speaking Spanish.
This is a proper residents' fiesta, run by the Playa Lisa and Tamarit neighbourhood for its own people, and you're very welcome to wander in. Everything spills along Avenida de Ronda: fairground rides, food and drink stalls, and a stage that runs late. The opening night leans into sevillanas, belly dance and a flamenco group called Candela, while Friday brings a magician and local bands knocking out their sets.
The pick of it is Saturday's water-and-fruit parade, which works through the streets from around 11am and does exactly what the name suggests, so don't wear your best clothes. Sunday is quieter and more devout, with a Virgin del Rocio procession at 9am and a rociera mass, then a communal cabasset supper and a band to round things off. Free, easy, and no Spanish required to enjoy a plate and a wander.
