Guided Visit to the Fish Auction
Watch Palamos's working fish auction live through the gallery window while a guide explains how the auction works, the local fleet, the species crossing the conveyor and how prices are set, tracing the catch from sea to plate. A small-scale insider experience by the port.
Most of us only ever meet fish on a plate or behind glass at the market. Here you get the bit in between. When the Palamos fleet comes in each afternoon, the catch hits a conveyor belt on the auction floor and prices are set in seconds by the buyers who know exactly what they're after. You watch the whole thing from a big window at the Espai del Peix, with a guide talking you through who's bidding, why one box goes for more than the next, and which boats brought what in.
It's short, about half an hour, and not a polished show but a real working auction. Bring a few euros in change; it's 3.50 a head, and the under-fours go free. A genuinely good way to see how the port actually earns its keep.
