Concert: 110 Years of La Lira Ampostina (European Music Day)
A free concert marking the 110th anniversary of the historic Lira Ampostina music society, staged for European Music Day. An easy, no-language-needed evening of live band music in the town's auditorium.
La Lira Ampostina has been making music in this Ebro delta town for 110 years, and they mark the occasion with a concert in their own auditorium, the Octavi Ruiz. It lands on European Music Day, so expect a town wholly given over to the thing it does best. The band is the heart of it: brass and woodwind, a full ensemble that has carried Amposta's tunes through more than a century.
You don't need a word of Catalan to follow along, which is the appeal for a visitor. Turn up, take a seat, let the music do the talking. It starts at 7pm and costs nothing, which makes it an easy add to a summer evening if you're staying along the Costa Daurada. Afterwards, the streets nearby are a fine spot for a slow drink and a wander.
