Gaudi's Birthday Open Day at the Gaudí Centre
On Antoni Gaudí's birthday, the Gaudí Centre throws open its doors with free activities all day. From 6pm, amateur theatre companies stage recreations around the old town, and at 8pm a dramatised walking tour, 'Gaudí, fragments of a genius', brings the architect's life to the streets of his home city. Part of the 2026 Any Gaudí celebrations.
Reus tends to get overlooked next to Barcelona, but this is where Antoni Gaudí was born, and on his birthday the town makes the most of it. The Gaudí Centre drops its admission charge for the day and lays on activities for all ages, so you can wander the three floors devoted to the great man's work without paying a euro. Worth booking ahead, as the free slots go.
The evening is the real draw. From 6pm, local amateur theatre groups stage short recreations around the old town, popping up in squares and side streets. Then at 8pm there's a dramatised walking tour, "Gaudí, fragments of a genius", that walks you through his life and quirks across the streets he grew up in. It's in Catalan, but the setting and the staging carry plenty even if you don't follow every word. Part of the 2026 Any Gaudí programme.
