Medina Azahara + Alan Nepa - Musica del Mar Festival
Legendary Andalusian rock band Medina Azahara play an open-air farewell-tour show right on the Cadiz quayside, with local rockers Alan Nepa opening. A scenic waterfront concert under the stars as part of the Musica del Mar festival.
Medina Azahara have been a fixture of Andalusian rock since the late seventies, and this is part of their farewell run, so the night carries a bit of weight for the locals who grew up on these songs. Expect anthemic, slightly proggy rock with plenty of guitar and a crowd that knows every chorus. You don't need a word of Spanish to get swept along.
The setting does a lot of the work. The Muelle Reina Victoria is right on the water in Cadiz's old port, so you've the sea on one side and the city lights behind you, music drifting out over the quay on a warm July evening. Cadiz rockers Alan Nepa open the bill. It's a ticketed show, kicking off at 10pm on 10 July as part of the Musica del Mar festival.
